Our cinemas are at the heart of every community we operate in.

As part of our strategy to improve guest experience and engage our colleagues, we have a Corporate Responsibility (CR) strategy we call 'Doing the right thing'.

It sets out clear promises, which coordinate responsible business practice and strong governance and is made up of five principal pillars.

Placing cinemas at the heart of our communities

We are dedicated to helping others and raising money for good causes. In each of our markets, we support either a dedicated charity or partner with specific organisations where we can make a noticeable difference.

We aim to deliver a first class experience for all our guests, irrespective of any disability. We are always looking for new ways to improve accessibility for all guests across our group.

'Best CSR Project' award for CINESA Se Mueve - giving charities a big voice through our big screens

ODEON has raised over £424,000 for Mind in two years

Our CINESA team in Spain cut electricity consumption by 13.5% in three years, resulting in a 22% cost saving. In Italy, our teams achieved a €1.4m cost reduction in three years, and in Sweden, our team reduced energy consumption by 6.7% over the previous year.

Using inspired thinking to tread lightly

We find new ways to improve our energy efficiency and recycling levels, reduce carbon emissions, water use and packaging.

Our ODEON Milton Keynes Stadium cinema is ‘lit by the sun’ with 286m surface area of solar panels providing 85% of the electricity used to light the building. The cinema recycles 90% of its waste and water consumption has been reduced by approximately 40% due to low flush toilets.

In Sweden, our new recycling stations offer guests six different recycling options and we are phasing out plastic gift cards in favour of cardboard/digital cards. In Germany we have developed a fully recyclable FSC certified nachos tray, meaning we’ll save 22 tonnes of plastic waste each year!

In the 2019 Sunday Times Best Places to Work in the UK our score as rated by our colleagues was higher than ever. This list is also increasingly competitive and we just missed out on the top 25. We are very proud that we have built an incredible culture that our colleagues love.
