Oldham Town Hall with ODEON seven-screen cinema wins ‘Building of the Year’ 2017

Oldham’s Old Town Hall, a Grade II listed building, restored and reborn as a state-of-the-art ODEON seven screen cinema was awarded ‘Building of the Year' at the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce Building of the Year 2017 awards.
James Rielly, ODEON Oldham General Manager, said: “We’re thrilled to have been involved in such a fantastic regeneration project, and the reaction to the new ODEON Oldham as part of the redevelopment of the Old Town Hall has been extremely positive.”
“Since the launch of ODEON Oldham last year, we’ve welcomed nearly 300,000 guests through our doors to see some of the biggest and best entertainment on our screens, and we’re predicting another great year in 2018.”
Jean Stretton, Oldham Council Leader, said: “It has been an amazing first year for The Old Town Hall.” With its combination of modern architecture and key heritage elements, the regeneration project has picked up 14 accolades in its first year, including;
- Two RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architecture) North-West 2017 Awards – ‘North West Award’ and ‘North West Conservation Award’
- Three RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) North West 2017 Awards – ‘Project of the Year’, ‘Innovation through Design’ and ‘Regeneration’
- LABC (Local Authority Building Control) North West Award 2017 – ‘Best Change of Use’
- GGB Award 2016 – ‘Best Built Project of the Year’, awarded in honour of the BDP founder Sir George Grenfell Baines
- Mixology North 2016 – ‘Hospitality Interiors Project of the Year’
